supporting your child at home
Parental involvement in their child’s education always has a really positive impact. This includes talking about what has happened at school, or what is going to happen at school, as well as practising specific areas of learning that have been taught at school, such as reading and writing. Regular parental support helps children to embed skills taught at school and can positively influence a child’s improvement across all areas of the curriculum.

Resources for parents
Specific phonics guidance for parents:
The below video features the sounds being said correctly and it also features the actions we teach the children. (Skip to 1 min 55) General guidance for parents about the EYFS curriculum:
“What to Expect, When” is a parental guide to their child’s learning and development. It gives examples of developmental milestones that children should reach during their first year at school & how to help them reach these milestones. “Development Matters” is a similar guide to above, written for early years practitioners and it includes many examples of what adults (including parents) can provide, do and say to help their child progress towards the next steps in their learning, across all 17 areas of the EYFS curriculum.
Do you have the following conversation after school most days?
