Letters and meetings:
Our first letter to prospective parents will be sent out at the beginning of May. This will contain all of the information about our induction process ahead of September 2018. There will also be a meeting for parents in late June. We strongly recommend parents attend this meeting.
Preparing for portfields:
This is a booklet we will send home nearer the summer holidays. Please share this booklet with your child. It includes photos of the staff that will be teaching your child in September. Show your child the photos and talk about them, especially your child's teacher. This will hopefully excite them and make them more relaxed about starting school. The booklet also includes photos of our Foundation learning environment and other places the Foundation children will regularly visit, as well as some of the things they will get up to whilst at school. Below is a link to download last year's booklet.

Induction pack:
At the induction meeting for parents in June, we will hand out our induction pack. This will include different pieces of information, such as:
- Guidance for parents so they can ensure their child is ready to start school in September
- Suggested activities and websites for parents and children to do / visit in the build up to starting Portfields
- Information about uniform, ParentMail, ParentPay, Tapestry and other items related to being a parent at Portfields
- Forms to be completed before starting Portfields and returned to the school office
other information:
Development Matters is the guide that early years staff follow and it features age-related, developmental statements that children should reach as they go from birth to 5 years old. It also includes many examples of what parents can provide, do and say to help their child develop social, physical and other skills at home. At Portfields, we use Development Matters to help plan activities and prepare our different areas of learning so they are suitably accessible and challenging for our children.
